Foster High was built in the late 1970's. Located in Katy, Texas, a subarb of Houston. It's tucked in a small bit of country, a few miles away from the city. Founded by Bobbie Briscoe, and George Foster, the two decided to make a school, where all children were perfect. They would all wear appropriate uniforms, never speak out of turn, always say 'yes ma'am,' and 'no sir' and never break the rules. In their opinion, it was a perfect school, with perfect kids. Everything seemed to be black and white, with no color.
Well, back in those days, the kids minded, and paid attention. They took their TAKS [Finals] with pleasure. The girls always wore skirts and button shirts, with their hair in a ponytail. Thats all they were allowed. Their hair wasn't to be longer then their shoulders, or shorter than their chin. The boys were only to wear shorts, and button up shirts with ties. Their hair wasn't to be longer than one inch, at any point in time. And neither side, was allowed to have dyed hair. No highlights. Nothing.
Well, by the Mid 90's, the kids were fussing. Boy's stopped wearing their ties, and girls wore their hair down. Even after the price they had to pay. For any dress code violation, they had to stay for Summer School. Well, by 2000 the kids were fed up.
The rules were being broken left and right. The administrator's could hardly keep up. School started changing before their very eyes. But they still hadn't achieved their success, of being individuals.
The revolting continued with girls wearing jeans, and boys growing their hair. Eventually, everyone was rioting against the system., but never have they completely separated from those rules. Now, it's Our time. Our time to change things. Will we step up to the plate? Or let this come over us, and fall back into rhythm? Will we ever find our individuality?
Break the Cycle Here.
