A pretty girl with blonde hair and brown eyes sat in one of the dark reddish-brown chairs. It was quite comfortable for her. She had on a pair of blue jeans and a striped shirt that was red and blue. Her feet had a pair of white tennis shoes on them. In her hands was a book with a green cover. In gold letters it read Ophelia. Lisa Klein wrote the book and the girl found it quite interesting. It was a story of love, death, life, and despair. It was a re-written version of Hamlet. Jenny loved to read books of love and in the day of kings and queens. That was Jenny Medley for you. All together she was a pretty quiet and shy girl.
A tall, very cute guy with light brown hair walked through the library. He was looking for his sister. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and darker blue jeans. He had a pair of older tennis shoes on. He walked through the library very quickly. He finally saw the figure of Jenny sitting on one of the chairs. He walked up to her. "Jenny? Where have you been?" He asked, running his fingers through his hair.
Jenny looked up from her book. It was Jason, her brother. "Hi, I have been in here for a while. I found a new book that I have reading. It's pretty good." She told him, smiling.
Jason nodded. "Cool, sounds good to me. Are you hungry?" He asked her, sitting in the chair across from her.
"No, are you." She asked, sitting up straight. She put a small piece of paper in the book to save her place. She could tell something wasn't right. "What's going on Jason?" She asked, looking somewhat concerned.
Jason looked at Jenny, a small smile on his face. "Nothing, I was just going to go out for a little while." He replied, of course that wasn't the whole story. The truth was he was going to the forest with Kyle Frelnd. They were going to start getting some people together, since the air at Ivory Academy hasn't been the easiest to breathe in lately. Jason knew that some of the guys at the school had guns and other weapons. He didn't feel safe leaving Jenny, but it definitely wouldn't be safe taking her with him. Now would it?

Every night she cries herself to sleep,
thinking, "Why does this happen to me?
Why does every moment have to be so hard?"
The soothing, pop music flooded from her headphones into her ears, filling her body, clearing her mind, giving depth and meaning to her life. Music was always able to calm her, to brighten her spirit on a rainy day; it took her away, into her own reality, her own sweet fantasies and dreams. It put the pieces of her heart back together when it became broken and cracked. It made her life feel like it was worth living, as if she meant something in the world.
While most students would sit at a table with their friends and talk, Aubree Marcantonio sat underneath one of the tables, all by her lonesome. She didn’t have many friends around here, or at least friends she was interested in talking with on the phone or hanging out with. The only two people she really considered her friends were her brother, Steven Marcantonio, a cute little bisexual boy who was a year older than she was, and Jasper Devine, an innocent and sweet little French kid who was also a year older than she was. However, she wasn’t sure where either of them was at the moment. So here she was, beneath a table in a library with a bunch of stupid books, listening to her black IPod nano, all alone.
She rested her head on the leg of the table, sighing softly. A small, black purse was at her side, with a white ‘A’ etched on the bottom left side – her first initial. Her brother had bought it for her birthday when she was twelve and he was thirteen after their mother refused to do so. Aubree smiled faintly at the thought of her brother. He was such a kind person, so gentle and naïve, like that of a child. He was the best older brother she could ever ask for. It sickened her to think that their parents couldn’t see and accept him for who he was. Just because he was more interested in men than women was not grounds to kick the poor boy out of his house. Rather than being proud of their son for being different, they were ashamed. What kind of parents were they, anyway? So what if God didn’t like homosexuals or bisexuals or, basically, anyone who wasn’t straight? That didn’t make Steven a criminal, nor did it make him deserve to be thrown out like garbage. Besides, there wasn’t even proof a God even existed. What was the point in believing in something that might not even be real?
Aubree closed her eyes, concentrating on the music that blasted through her ears. Currently, she had her new Maroon 5 C.D. on repeat, ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.’ She just bought it the other day, and thought it to be quite good. Wake up call, caught you in the morning with another one in my bed. Don’t you care about me anymore? Don’t you care about me? I don’t think so. Another song about a cheating, lying !@#$%. Aubree was not like that, though she knew a few men (yes, men) who were. She dated quite a handful of men who were only after whatever kind of pleasure they could get. Men she thought she could trust, whom she thought she loved and loved her in return. However, the majority of them were just stupid, sex-addicted pigs who just wanted to get into her pants. Those !@#$%^&!… Aubree felt her teeth grit behind her lips as she thought of all the times she had been used by those not a very nice persons. Since her last break-up, she decided to give up on love. She put up a guard around her heart, in a sense, and refused to let any man pass through it. Though, secretly, somewhere deep inside her heart, she longed for someone to love her again. Aubree sat in a rather squished position, her legs – which were covered by a pair of skinny black jeans that hugged her legs well – squeezed close to her chest. There really wasn’t much room to stretch out, since she would probably end up tripping someone. Then again, that would be somewhat funny. A small smirk crossed Aubree’s face as she thought of this idea, though she dismissed it quickly. She wasn’t that cruel, despite she may appear it sometimes.
She gently put her hands over her shoes, a pair of black flats with blue and green skulls on them. She looked down, pouting innocently. She felt lonely, but at the same time, she didn’t want some random person coming over to her and bothering her. Aubree longed for Stevie or Jasper to walk into the library, so she didn’t feel as awkward and had someone to talk to, but she doubted either of the two would. They didn’t really have much of a reason to come to her library, since both already had laptops with internet and both preferred to buy books rather than rent them for a week or two. Jasper probably thought that to be disgusting, considering he was just a tad germ phobic and believed that picking up something used was like dipping your hand in acid, even with sanitizer or gloves. That was Jasper Devine for you, panicky and a little schizoid. But, very cute and charming, nonetheless.
Aubree ran her pale hands up the calves of her legs before resting them on her thighs, leaning her back on the leg of a chair that was pushed in underneath the table, as well. She looked up at the bottom of the table, smiling at the fact there was no gum under it. She normally tried to come and sit under the same table for the same reason; it was clean, on both top and bottom. Well, then again, was it very sanitary to sit on the floor of a library under the table, despite the gum factor on it? Aubree shrugged. Probably not. Ah, well… whatever. Even if her friend was fearful of getting sick, she wasn’t. In fact, Aubree wasn’t afraid of many things. She was quite the bold, daredevil kind of girl, even though the fact her frail figure said otherwise about her. She was such a small, tiny girl, at a first glance, it never would’ve been obvious she would (and could) knock your teeth out if you ticked her off.
She pulled the hood of her sleeveless hoodie – that was designed with blue and green skull and crossbones all of the front, which matched her shoes perfectly – over her face more, as if trying to hide herself from the world. She looked down again toward her IPod, though she didn’t pay much attention to the words that read on the screen. Slowly, Aubree was growing bored. She sighed, finally laying her back across the floor. She outstretched her arms a bit, turning her head to the right. To her surprise, she saw a big, black, fuzzy spider crawling around beside her. Out of shock, she let out a small cry of fright, sitting up quickly, though she ended up smacking her head against the table. She winced as the pain surged through her head, piercing her mind. She closed her eyes tightly and put her hand over the place she had hit her head. ”God!@#$%^!” She exclaimed, probably louder than she should have, considering she was in a library.
She opened her eyes again, just in time to her an older woman by a desk ‘shush’ her. Aubree narrowed her eyes in irritation, glaring at the woman. ”Yeah, yeah…” She muttered under her breath, picking up her IPod and shoving it into her pocket. She picked up her purse in a quick, agitated motion. She crawled out from under the table, throwing the purse onto the table as she ran her fingers through her short, cropped, black hair. The pain in her head slowly began to decrease, though she felt somewhat stupid for being frightened so easily by a spider. Well, she just wasn’t expecting to find a spider at her side, was all. She tended to try to think her school was relatively clean, though that thought seemed to be proven wrong right there. Spiders crawling around in a library… it made her wonder where else that they were crawling around. A shiver ran up Aubree’s spine as she ran through the possibilities. Jasper wouldn’t be happy about this. Well, this place was most definitely not the same since she first came here. It was nicer then, and the people were kinder. Now, there were bugs everywhere, as well pregnant dogy girls and nasty boys. Basically, the entire school was pretty screwed up. How was it possible that such a prestigious academy be get so crappy and run-down so quickly?

Jason looked up at the same time as Jenny did. They had heard someone yell very loudly and it had startled them a little. They watched a girl with short black hair crawl out from under a table. Jenny laughed a little, but Jason just watched her.
"Now anyway Jason," Jenny started, "Where are you going and who are you going with?" She asked, looking at her brother, who was still watching the other girl. "Jason!" Jenny said a little louder than she should have, being in a library and all.
Jason turned around and looked at Jenny with his soft blue eyes. "What?" He asked. Jason didn't hear a word Jenny had just said, except for his name. He smiled faintly at her, apologetic.
Jenny sighed, smiling at Jason. She let out a giggle. "Why don't you go and talk to her?" She teased. Jenny had always been close to her brother and she also knew that Jason didn't like to talk or trust anyone but Jenny herself.
Jason looked at Jenny with a serious face. "Jenny, if you don't want anything else than I have to go." He told her, starting to get up. He didn't want to be late and he didn't want Kyle to think that he set him up.
"Jason, I was just joking around. Now where are you going and who are you going with?" She asked, standing up and putting the book on a table. She wanted to make sure that Jason would be okay. She wouldn't know what to do if she lost him. She sighed, giving Jason a sad puppy look.
"I'm just going out with some friends, one of them is Kyle." He told her, trying not to be sucked in by Jenny's puppy-face. He sighed, taking her hand. "I'll be fine and I should be back soon." He told her giving her a hug.
"Fine, but please be careful. It hasn't been the same around here. You know?" She told him, hugging him back with a faint smile on her face. She was worried about Jason and knew that he wasn't just going to hang out with his friends. Jenny was thinking about ways to follow him and had many ideas, but then again this might jeopardize the trusted bond between brother and sister. Jenny sighed, deciding that she wouldn’t follow Jason.

Aubree ran her fingers through her hair again, as if anxious or uncertain about something. She looked around before finally digging in her purse, taking out a pack of Skittles Gum. It was her favorite kind, just because skittles were her favorite candy. She sighed, dumping a few pieces of the same color onto her palm. Aubree was about to pop them into her mouth like some kind of pill, but before she had a chance, someone's hand covered her mouth, making the poor girl jump with surprise.
Steven Marcantonio chuckled softly, pulling his younger sister closer to him. He wrapped his free hand around her waist, a smirk over his face. It might have looked a little odd to people who didn't know either of them, or that the two were brother and sister. It probably felt a little odd to Aubree, as well, considering she couldn't see who it was. Out of panic, she bit down hard on his finger, making Stevie yelp with surprise. Of course, she wouldn't have done so had she known it was only her brother 'attacking' her. He pulled his hand away from her mouth quickly, shaking it. His jaw was dropped, though his lips curved into a pout quickly. He looked hurt, his eyebrows ruffling with sadness, as if by biting him Aubree had struck one of Stevie's nerves.
"She bit me!" He exclaimed childishly, pointing at his sister like a five year old would. Aubree turned around at the sound of her brother's voice, still in shock. She took a few deep breaths, staring at Stevie. Her jaw dropped as she gazed upon his innocent, young face. If he wasn't taller than her, it probably would've been hard to tell he was the only one. He was so childlike and sweet, who would've thought the boy was a year away from being a legal adult? She pouted as well, giggling softly at her brother. She stepped toward him as he lowered his hand as well as his head.
"Awh, I'm sorry, Stevie." Aubree said soothingly and maternally. She took his hand gently in hers as he sniffled, turning his head away from her, as if he didn't forgive her. She smiled faintly, gently kissing the spot where she had bitten him. "Better?" She asked, pulling her lips away from his hand. After a moment or two, Steven nodded, turning his gaze back to her. He smiled faintly. "Yeah, I'm good." He answered, his tone sounding a bit more normal than before, and more his age. His voice was a bit more feminine than most guys, however. He sat down on the table, resting his hands in his lap. He, too, was chewing gum.
Steven was about to speak again, but one of the older women working at a computer beat him to it. She rose to her feet, pointing her wrinkled finger in Stevie's direction. "Don't sit on the tables!" She barked, her voice squeaky and shrill. Steven looked up suddenly, his jaw dropping. He jumped off quickly, looking down shamefully. "Sorry, ma'am." He answered, a guilty look washing over his face. Aubree laughed at this, deciding to change the subject before Steven started to feel terrible about himself. He hated getting yelled at, or doing something wrong, or making someone angry. It made him feel horrible. It was rather cute, though.
"What are you doing here? I thought you didn't like the library." She asked, leaning against the table, rather than sitting on it. Stevie shrugged, shoving his hands into his pockets. "I don't." He replied, taking a pair of big, round, dark sunglasses which were outlined in white from the pocket of his tight, black and white striped jacket. He put them on casually. He probably looked funny wearing them, but Steven loved those sunglasses. Aubree had gotten them for him. If he remembered correctly, she had a matching pair somewhere.
"I had a hunch you'd be here." He finished, popping his gum in his mouth. Aubree looked interested in his words as she crossed her arms over her chest. Why would Steven be looking for her? Normally, it was the other way around. "Oh... Why were you looking for me?" She asked, trying to sound nonchalant about the subject. Steve pulled out a small notebook from his back pocket, one of those thin ones that some people used to doodle in or write homework down or something. He held it out to Aubree. "I found this in my dorm... I assumed it was yours." He looked at it, then at Aubree, his eyes questioning, though they weren't very visible behind his shades.
Aubree took the pad of paper out of his hands, glancing at it before throwing it into her purse. It must've fallen out. She really didn't have much of a need for it beside a good thing to draw in. She wasn't the best of artists, but she was fair. Besides, she really didn't care how nice they looked; it was just for something to do to pass the time between classes. She nodded. "Oh, yeah. Thanks." She said softly, resting her hand on the table. She looked down at the feeling of something somewhat soft touch the tip of her finger. Her face suddenly turned disgusted as she pulled her hand away, letting out another cry of fear. She looked horrified as she stood there, staring down at the spider she had come in counter with while on the floor. It must've made itself up onto the table.
Steve jumped at Aubree's sudden panic, looking deeply worried. He looked down at the table, smiling as he saw the spider. Unlike Aubree, Steven loved all creatures, even spiders. "Awh, Bree, he won't hurt you." He cooed kindly, bending down so his head was level with the table in order to get a better look at the arachnid. Aubree felt shivers run down her spine as she watched her brother. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. Her lips quivered a little before she stepped back, her muscles tense. Well, okay, maybe there was one thing Aubree was afraid of... but she'd be the last to admit it.
Now that old lady behind the desk was royally ticked off. The woman stood up again, sighing irritably, and walked over to Aubree. She stood in front of her, her back arched a bit, her hair white and thin. Her face was twisted and wrinkled, as was the rest of her skin. Her shirt was a white with floral print, her pants a pair of faded blue jeans and her shoes a bright white. Aubree turned around as she felt the lady tap her shoulder. "Miss, you need to calm down." She said, her voice grave and serious, her eyes narrowed in an annoyed glare. Aubree was still unable to speak. She crossed her arms over her chest tightly, trying to find the right words to say.
Luckily, Steven stepped in. He stood up straight again, pulling at edges of the black T-shirt that he wore underneath his jacket. "Sorry, ma'am, she was just a little frightened by a spider." He explained, pointing to the thing still crawling around on the table. She stared at Steven for a moment, then the bug, a disapproving look over her face. However, she didn't argue further. The old woman simply made a 'tsk' sound with her tongue and shook her head. She began to walk off, back to her desk, leaving Steven and Aubree alone again... well, for the most part.
Finally, Aubree spoke. "I am not afraid of that spider." She said, pointing a finger in her brothers face just as his black hair fell over his right eye. He stepped back, putting his hands in the air so they were level with his chest, like most people did when the police told them to 'put their hands were they can see them.' Steven laughed softly at Aubree's frustration. "Oh yeah?" He said, a pleasant smile over his face, "Could've fooled me."

Jenny looked back over to the girl. This time a boy was with her. She rolled her eyes. "These kids are so disruptive." She said her voice irritable. She watched as the girl stuck her finger in the boy's face. "Not to mention rude!" She hissed quietly.
Jason looked back over to the girl. He sighed, nodding slowly. "I somewhat agree. Now I should be going." He told her. Jason gently kissed Jenny on the top of her head. "I will talk to you later." He added, walking towards the two students who were making a disruption. He waved back at Jenny, giving her a smile.
Jenny sighed, waving back to Jason as she watched him walk away. She quietly picked up the book she had been reading and she walked over to the shelf she got it from. She put it back in the right order, making sure it was in the right place.

Aubree frowned unhappily. She didn't like admitting her fears and insecurities, even to her own brother. She didn't want to show any kind of weakness around others. She crossed her arms over her chest, stepping back away from Steven, whose arms fell at his sides once more. Aubree thought it best they change the subject, or else she might start some kind of argument and get herself thrown out of here. "So... Where's frenchie?" She asked, staring at Stevie with question in her eyes. Steven however, didn't really understand who she was talking about. He raised his left eyebrow, staring at her in confusion.
Of course, Aubree was talking about Jasper Devine, the only kid she knew who moved here all the way from France. Why Jasper wanted to leave France to come to this h3ll-hole of a country was beyond her, though. Ah, well. It was his decision. "Jazz. Jasper." She stated his nickname first, then full name, though not many people called him 'jazz'. On occasion, Aubree would, but it was rare. Steven nodded, suddenly realizing who she was talking about. He shrugged. "I don't know. I haven't seen him." He responded casually, leaning back on the table once more.
Aubree nodded, her attention floating back to the spider on the table. She shivered again, taking a step back, only she accidently backed into Jason. The collision, though it wasn't hard or bad enough to cause any kind of injury, made Aubree jump back, spinning around to face what she had hit. Her face was frantic and panicky, though for once, she concealed her screams. She gave a faint smile to the boy as she apologized, "Sorry.. I didn't realize anyone was behind me. Are you alright?" She sounded sincere, as if she truly meant she was sorry. The hood of her sleeveless sweatshirt fell off of her head, revealing more of her clear, beautiful face.
Steven watched his sister before looking up at the kid she ran into. He chuckled softly, though tried to hide it best he could. He didn't think Jason was funny, of course, Stevie just simply wondered what his reaction to Aubree would be. Different people always had different interpritations of his sister. Normally, older people, such as the woman who had came over and instructed that Aubree calm down, thought she was a nuscience and too loud. Teenagers, or kids around their age, seemed to be more diverse in their reactions. Most just gave her strange glances or looks, but there was the occasional nice person thrown in who would actually speak. And, well, little children just thought Aubree was nuts. Ah, well. Maybe she was a little crazy, but Steven cared and loved her greatly anyway. She stood by him when others (including their parents) backed down, and he always tried to do the same for her. Most people tended to think teenagers didn't get along well with their siblings, but the relationship that Stevie and Bree had surely proved them wrong.

Jenny thought about what she should do now. She sighed, just sitting down on the chair she was in before. She slowly closed her eyes hoping to relax in silence.
Jason turned and looked at what had run into him. He wasn't paying much attention, but he didn't care. Of course he had to say something to the person who ran into him. There were many possibilities and he was ready to get an attitude at whoever had the nerve to back into him. He really wasn't upset or anything he just felt like going off on someone. Once he turned and saw the girl and boy who were making a disruption before he just stood there. Thinking. Thinking of ways to tell them both off.
Watch where you are going next time!
Maybe you should check next time before you back up!
Yeah I'm fine, but back off.
Whatever, just watch where you are going.
The words were endless. He watched the girl's hood fall off her head. He gave her a faint smile. "I'm fine, just be careful next time." He told her in a stern tone. He looked over to the boy who was chuckling softly to himself. "What's so funny?" He asked his voice's volume rising.
Jenny opened her eyes to the sound of her brother's voice. She sat up and looked around. She saw Jason by the two kids who were being obnoxious before. She sighed, but her body tensed up a little. She silently sat up and walked over to them standing next to Jason. "What happened?" She asked so quietly that only Jason could hear. He didn't take any notice of her voice though.

Aubree's smile got a little wider as she stood there, looking rather cute and innocent for a young girl of sixteen, trying to win the forgiveness of some kid she had never met before. I'm fine, just be careful next time. She nodded, giving him a 'thumb's up' with her right hand. "Gotcha." She said cheerfully before shoving her hands into her pockets. She pursed her lips, pouting them in a rocker-esque form, before she looked up at the boy once more, hearing him speak. What's so funny? Her gaze turned to her brother, Stevie, who had looked up suddenly, as well. He looked kind of awe-struck by the boys words, half in shock that this kid had gotten so defensive.
Steven, being the sweet, innocent, bisexual boy that he was, tried to avoid any kind of conflict at all costs. He hated to make people angry or feel bad -- it made him feel horrible. He opened his mouth, his eyes turning apologetic, "I'm sorry... N-nothing, I guess." He even looked a little frightened by the boys words. Stevie never meant anything by laughing, he just liked to laugh. He often laughed at everything and anything, even things that weren't funny.
Luckily, before Steven could studder another word, Aubree stepped in to help. "He was just laughing at me and my stupidity." She said, trying to lighten the mood, since everyone seemed so tense, or at least, to her. She shrugged, "Stevie laughs at everything. It's like a nervous tick or something." She said, nodding as she flashed her brother a smile, who smiled childishly back.

"Right." Jason replied sharply to the girl. He looked at his sister and shook his head. "Nothing, just little girls who don't know how to watch were they are going." He told her quietly, not really caring if the other two kids heard him or not. "I really should go." He added, remembering that if he didn't meet Kyle in the woods than Kyle would be there with a bunch of kids who might beat Kyle up.
Jenny watched Jason lips move and started to read them. This was one of her talents. She could read lips. Of course she didn't tell many people that way they wouldn't turn away. Though sometimes there was the couple of kids who would turn and talk. Jen wouldn't be able to read the lips then. She sighed, quite loudly. Even though she didn't know it. Her head slowly nodded. "Fine, but like I said. Please be careful." She added.
