Maddy folded the letter back up and put it in the pocket of her bag, and then looked back up at Tom. "I'm sorry, Tom. But it is true." Maddy didn't know what else to do, so she put one of her hands on his back. "I'm truely sorry." A single tear had begun to roll down her cheek but she didn't care, she just cared about Tom. She glanced down at Molly who was laying down between her feet, her dark fur glistening in the setting sun light. She didn't know what to do, so she just sat there with her hand on Tom's back, hoping that he'd forgive her and her reasons for showing him the letter.

Tom looked up at Maddy. "I'm sorry. I know this isn't your fault." He said. He saw a tear run down Maddy's cheek. He used his hand to wipe it away. He wrapped his hands around her holding her tight.

Maddy leaned into Tom's embrace. "Thank you, Tom." She whispered. She wrapped her own arms around him and closed her eyes, enjoying the company for once. "I guess that I'm just scared." She admitted, her voice soft.

"And I guess you have something to be scared of." Tom said giving Maddy a squeeze. He felt kind of bad for her. But at least she would live right?

Maddy reached one of her hands up to her face and whiped away a few more tears, "Yeah, I guess I do." She sighed, her accent catching on a few words, her dark hair was covering one of her eyes, but she didn't care. "Tom, who am I kidding, I'm dead terrified." She finally weaped, tears streaming down her face.

Tom sighed, wiping the tears away. "It's going to be fine. Don't worry yourself like this." He said, brushing the hair out of her face. He lifted her chin up so that they were eye to eye. He gave her a smile.

Maddy met his eyes steadily, she reached up and collected her hair, pulling it into a ponytail and securing it she leaned onto Tom's shoulder. "I-I-Thanks Tom." She whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Um, could you do something for me?" She asked him, glancing up at his face, "Never tell Vincint. I don't want him to worry about me." She hated lying to her brother, but she didn't really know what she was going to do yet. "Why don't we contenue our walk," She didn't really want to keep talking about her death, but she also didn't want to leave Tom's side.

Tom held Maddy close to him. He let out a light sigh. But he tensed up a little. "Vincint doesn't know? Maddy he's your brother. Don't you think he should?" He said, looking at her. Tom had said that kind of in a rush and a little sternly, but it still sounded soft. His eyes were now clouded with worry, but there was also a hint of something else there. Love and Care.

Maddy met Tom's eyes, she could see the worry building inside them, but there was something that she couldn't - didn't recognize mixed in. "I know that he's my brother, but he would force me to a decision that I'm not sure I'm ready to make." She told him gently. She didn't like where this conversation was going, a crack of thunder erupted over head, Maddy buried her her head in Tom's arm. "Why don't we get out of here before this storm breaks." She suggested.

Tom sighed. He could tell that Maddy didn't want to finish the conversation. He nodded, holding her tight as they stood up. Luckily Tom had a sweater on, but he couldn't tell if Maddy's shirt had a hood or anything like that. He was debating to give her his sweatshirt when a strike of bright lightening whiped through the sky. He held Maddy even closer as he closed his eyes for a few seconds, walking on slowly. "Where should we go?" He asked quietly. Another crack of thunder erupted right over Maddy's and Tom's heads.

Maddy flinched when the lightning erupted overhead. Where should we go? Oppening her eyes, she looked around, "I don't know." she hoped that her voice didn't sound as weak as the storm was making her scared. "Where all could we go?" She asked, but she couldn't tell whether or not he heard her through the thunder that shook the ground. It seemed to be the starting gun seeing as rain began to come down on them.

Tom could tell that Maddy said something in reply, but he couldn't make it out. He looked down to her. "What?" He said loudly as it started to rain. Tom looked over to Maddy and as the sky was lit up with lightening he noticed that she didn't have anything to cover herself from the rain. As the two of them continued walking Tom pulled away from Maddy. He quickly took his sweatshirt off and wrapped it around Maddy's shoulders. He put the hood on her laughing a little as he held her close to his body once again.

Maddy welcomed the warmth of the sweat shirt, "Thanks, Tom." She looked over her shoulder, pausing she put her fingers to her mouth, whistling to get Molly to come. The cattle dog bounded after them. She looked up at Tom as she heard him laugh, "What's so funny?" She asked him, a slight smile on her face. "And where are we going?" She asked, as another sheet of rain blasted them.
