A tall, handsome young man stood at the waters edge, staring outward toward to the vast, dark blue lake. Rose Lake. Truly, one of the most wonderful things about this academy. It's beauty was legendary, especially at this time of night. It was late in the evening and the air was feeling warm and tepid. Days were becoming shorter as summer came to an end and the cool fall weather began to set in. Robbie loved the autumn season. It always looked and felt so nice with all of the changing colors and weather patterns. It was perfect for an aspiring photographer like Robbie Powell.
In his hands was a big, somewhat bulky looking black camera. His father had given it to him when Robbie was younger, just before he died. Robbie cherished it and took very good care of it ever since. He had bought a few other cameras since then, but used this one most often when taking shots of scenery. Plus, this was the only one had that was waterproof, so if he happened to drop it into the lake it wouldn't be completely destroyed. Robbie really wasn't much of a klutz in that kind of a manner, though, so it was a rare possibility.
Robbie's brown hair fell over his steel-blue eyes as he gazed upon the sky. The different shades of purple and blue and pink intertwined divinely as the sun slowly set under the horizon, it's rays illuminating the earth. The moon and the stars began to awake from their slumber as the light around the area dimmed. Natural beauty at it's finest.
He held the camera up over his eye, looking at the sight through the lense, snapping a few pictures of it. Most guys wouldn't bother to notice, but Robbie was very different than most guys. He was quite a gentleman, in fact. He was funny and happy and pleasant to be around, which is why he was very well-liked by both many of the students and teachers at the school.
He lowered his camera so it was level with his stomach, sighing softly as he looked out over the lake once more. The sleeves of his navy blue jacket that was zippered half-way up his chest ruffled a bit as a breeze blew by. Underneath his jacket was a another thin, white jacket, zipped up about the same length as the other. Underneath this was a blue T-shirt, a different shade than his jacket, however. Robbie liked to layer things. He thought it looked neat. He wore a pair of faded, blue jeans over his legs and white sneakers over his feet, as well.
He stepped out onto a rock that jetted up from under the water, once more looking into the lense of his camera as he took a few pictures of the water beneath him and the light that shimmered over it. As he was putting the camera down, however, someone shoved him forward, sending him toppling into the lake with a gasp of surprise. Robbie surfaced quickly to the sound of a little girl giggling in amusement. He took a deep breath, looking around to see where it was coming from.
He held his camera in one hand as he began to tred water in order to stay above the surface. Finally, he spotted a young girl standing upon the same rock he had been. She was small, with short, blonde hair and blue eyes. Isabella Powell -- Robbie's younger sister. He smiled, laughing softly. He swam to the edge of the lake and put his camera down on the ground to dry, before back toward the rock she was standing on. He gave her a devious smirk. "Oh, you're going to get it now." He said playfully, grabbing her arm and pulling her down into the water with him suddenly.
It was a little cold, but not competely terrible. Bella surfaced beside her brother, laughing cheerfully as she splashed water toward him. Robbie chuckled as well, splashing her back, his brown, wet hair hanging down over his eyes again. They were probably causing a lot of ruckus for those around them, with their noise and splashing of water, but neither Robbie nor Isabella seemed to care much.
(Sorry, I brought Isabella into this before she was accepted, but I wanted to write her in now or else I probably would've forgotten, hahah.)

A taller girl with blonde hair and brown eyes walked on the shore next to the lake. She sighed admiring the beauty of the lake, the sunset, and the peaceful evening. She was wearing light blue jeans. A blue shirt that had light blue stripes on it. She was also wearing light blue flip-flops that seemed to match her shirt perfectly. She smiled lightly as she ran her fingers through her hair. She was humming How to save a life by The Fray. She saw two people in the lake, who were making quiet an ammount of noise. She smiled and sat a little ways from them. She watched them for a few seconds, but then turned her attention towards the sunset.

Robbie smirked, pushing Bella under the water gently before swimming to the waters edge, close to where the other girl was sitting, and stood up. He looked at his camera and bent down and picked it up. He stood up straight again as he looked at it, moving it around in his hands to make sure nothing was broken. He looked through the lense, pointing the camera at the young girl in front of him, though he really wasn't paying much attention to that; he just wanted to take a quick picture to make sure it still worked right. He hit the button at the top, the camera making a small noise before Robbie took it away from his eye. He examined it again before shrugging. Seemed to be in working order.
Isabella surfaced quickly in the same way she had before, following her brother. She, too, was wearing jeans, along with a pink shirt. It probably wasn't the best color to be wearing while swimming in a lake, but when your twelve that really doesn't matter. She stood beside her brother, giggling softly. "Robbie, will you check my algebra homework for me?" She asked, looking up at him innocently. Robbie smiled down at her. "Yeah, sure." He said pleasantly.
He looked out toward the sunset for a moment, sighing. The other girl sitting a short distance from them caught his eye, and he smiled faintly. She, too, had been staring out at the setting sun. He looked up again, snapping another picture of the sky. Isabella sat down on a rock on the edge of the lake, watching her brother. She always looked up to him and thought him to be very talented.

Millie smiled and gave a short wave to the boy and what seemed to be his little sister. She blushed a little as she made eye contact with the boy. She couldn't believe that he had taken a picture with the camera pointed towards her. She blushed a little looking away. She didn't want to be in the way, but since the little girl asked for the boy to look over her homework, she doubted that the boy would be taking anymore pictures, for a while at least.

Robbie smiled, looking over at the girl once more. He turned around to look at his sister. "Did you bring it with you, Bee?" He asked, sitting down on the ground beside her, still holding his camera in his hands. Robbie often called things different from Isabella's actual name. He had a bunch of nicknames for her, but 'Bee', 'Bell', and 'Bella' were the three he called her most commonly. Isabella shook her head, "... No, it's back at my dorm." She answered, looking over at the girl. She narrowed her eyes a little, as if unhappy that this girl was looking at her brother. Isabella turned her head back to her brother as he spoke, her displeased eyes turning jovial once more. ”Why don’t you run up to your room and get it and we can work on it out here?” Robbie suggested kindly. He didn’t feel like going inside just yet, even if he was soaking wet. Plus, he wanted to take a few more pictures before nightfall. ”And you can get changed out of your wet clothes.” He added, his voice a bit more humorous as his smile grew wider. Isabella smiled as well. She nodded. ”Okay. I’ll be right back.” She said as she jumped off from the rock she was sitting on before she ran off toward the dormitories. Robbie watched her intently until she was out of sight, before turning his eyes back to the sunset. He sighed. Well, wearing two wet jackets and a T-shirt that was also wet wasn’t very fun. He pulled at his sleeves in attempts to air them out a little, but it didn’t work much. Finally, he just decided to take both the jackets off. He might be a little cold, but he was colder with them on since they were very damp. Robbie rested his camera on the ground beside him. He then unzipped the navy one and slid it off his arms, and then did the same with the other, revealing his tan arms. He put them on the rock Bell had been sitting on in order for them to dry. Robbie shook his head suddenly in a somewhat violent manner, in the same way a dog would do when shaking water from its fur. Droplets of water fell from his hair as he did so. It wouldn’t dry it completely, of course, but it might stop any excess water from dripping into his eyes. His hair looked a little messed up now, but Robbie was cute enough to pull it off. Again, he sighed, relaxing again for a moment, once more gazing at the beautiful sunset. His eyes quickly moved back toward the other girl. He smiled faintly. ”It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” He said, raising his eyebrows in question. He hesitated. ”…the sunset, I mean.” (Hahah, it just smacked me that his first and middle initials are ‘R’ and ‘J’. There was a guy on One Life to Live named RJ.)

Millie jumped a little as the silence was broken by the boy's sweet voice. She turned her head and looked at him. He was wet from his swim still. "Yeah it is." She said, smiling. She wanted to ask who the little girl was, but decided against it. She didn't want to nose into other people's business. She looked back at the sunset and then to the boy. "Are you a photograher?" She asked. You idoit Millie! What happened to not butting into other people's business. She scolded herself silently.

Robbie smiled as he watched her jump, chuckling in amusement. "Sorry..." He apologized, "I didn't mean to startle you." He flashed her a wide, cheerful smile, revealing some of his perfectly straight and radiantly white teeth. Yeah it is. He nodded, his gaze turning toward the sunset once more. He sighed dreamily. He loved being out at this time, during the twilight. Are you a photograher? He turned his blue eyes back to her. Photographer. He looked down at his camera, then at Millie, laughing softly once more. "Trying to be." He answered humorously, his voice kind and pleasant.

"Oh it's okay, I was just in my own little world." She said laughing. Her blonde hair fell in her face and she took her hands and pulled it back, leaning to one side so it would hang on that side. She smiled watching him. "Are you any good?" She asked. "Good at taking pictures that is." She added laughing softly.

Oh it's okay, I was just in my own little world. Robbie chuckled lightly at this, nodding once in understanding. Are you any good? Good at taking pictures that is. Robbie's happiness turned a bit more serious than it had been as he thought about the question. He shrugged. "Well, um... I don't know, I guess so." He said uncertainly. He probably wasn't the best, but he was definitely very good for his age. But that was okay, since, Robbie would rather go further in writing than photography. "My dad bought me a camera Fourth of July weekened when I was ten... maybe like... Two years before he died, and I've been taking pictures ever since." He explained with another shrug. It used to bother him, talking about his father after he died. But the pain had eased greatly, and he could speak more freely about him and what a wonderful person his father was.

Millie smiled. The boy seemed sweet and very nice. Her smiled disappeared after she heard him say Two years before he died... She hated when people's parents, relatives, or friends died. She knew it was a part of life, but it brought so much sadness and depression into people's lives. She had lost her grandfather to cancer a few years before. She had been devastated and became anti-social. She had gotten better now, but was never completely healed by the pain. "I'm sorry to hear about your father." She said quietly, looking at the boy and then to the ground. She didn't really have a father. He left the family after her brother was born. Millie was about to turn five years old. She didn't realize what was going on until he never returned. She sighed quietly. These were sad memories that she normally just forgot about because she didn't like to think about what happened. She normally was happy and cheerful all of the time.

Robbie smiled as well. He liked meeting new people. He was a rather social person, though that didn't mean he wasn't serious about his school work. Robbie was somewhere near the top of his class, and excelled in English and foreign languages. Though, foreign languages is no surprise, considering he spoke French for the majority of his life, being from Canada. He noticed her smile fade. He looked confused, as his smile faded as well. What was the matter? He looked down at the moment, then back up at Millie as she spoke. I'm sorry to hear about your father. His smile returned, though it was fainter than before. "Ah, don't worry about it. It was a long time ago." He said with a shrug.
It wasn't, of course, that he didn't care. But, he had simply accepted the fact that his father was gone and was not coming back. Robbie tried not to think about it much, though the pain had eased greatly since he was ten. It was not gone completely, but it was much easier to take about his dad and think about him without breaking down into some kind of manic depression. Time really does heal all things.

Millie looked back up at the boy. She realized that she never got his name. She smiled lightly as she watched him. "I'm Millie by the way." She said, with a little laugh.

I'm Millie by the way. Robbie smiled again. Millie. That was a cute name. "I'm Robbie. Nice to meet you, Millie." He said polietely with a cordial nod. He never introduced himself by his full name of Robert. It didn't fit him as well as Robbie did and he didn't really like it that much. Robert Justin Powell. It was old-fashioned and long and drawn out. It was simply a hassle and a bit of a bore; so he shook it up a little and went with Robbie most of the time.

"It's nice to meet you too, Robbie." She said, smiling. She liked the name. She then realized that they both ended in 'ie'. She giggled, looking back at Robbie. She stopped, though as soon as she made eye contact with him. He must think I'm an idiot. Sitting here laughing at nothing. She sighed, looking back at the ground.

It's nice to meet you too, Robbie. Robbie nodded again in the same cordial way he had before. His smile grew wider as she laughed, causing him to chuckle a bit as well, though he had no idea what she was laughing about. He liked it when other people laughed; it made him laugh, too, even if he had no idea what was going on. He tilted his head to the side, "What's so funny?" He asked, his voice sounding jolly and rather amused by their laughter.
